Celebrating English

My speakers -- We had less than a week to ready them for a 2 min impromptu speech but they did it. 2nd from the left is moving to the next level!

English Festivals are now in progress across Costa Rica! Today in Pocora we spelled and defined our way to a winner who will proceed to the next level of Spelling Bee, heard impromptu speeches in a SECOND LANGUAGE on families and favorite sports and leisure activities, and watched a performance of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” as Readers’ Theater! Proud of the investment that English teachers and Peace Corps volunteers are making. And I’m thrilled that the return on that investment is already evident as, by the end of the presentations, students were asking for MORE opportunities to practice English!

Guy on the right may not have won the speech contest but he won my heart. When he smiles ... Guy on the left got me to go to church and watch him dance!

Since arriving the first week of June I've worked with many you see here on spelling. They are some hard working "bees"!

Started in Tennessee, spent time in Alabama and made way to Costa Rica after 20 years in Texas. I've focused on communications professionally in the worlds of church, government and nonprofits. Now I'm feeding my longtime love of volunteering as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica. Just in case you don't know me very well ... The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps.
