Self-care …

After the big reveal of our ‪#‎PeaceCorps‬ assignments across ‪#‎CostaRica‬ yesterday, we had a regional “Olympics” in a nearby park followed by lunch, meetings with staff (I, for one, am now thoroughly vaccinated for life here), and time in San Jose. The evening was planned by now-serving volunteers and included a trivia game and music at a local hostel

For those of you who wonder how I might be coping with the fact that I have a few years head start on my companions, here’s an example of how I practice self-care — given the opportunity to stay in the hostel or across the street in a “guest house” I chose the latter, hosted a little get-together beforehand, shared nibbles with the larger crowd, gave away a few chair massages, did lousy at trivia, and then, before the pizza and dancing began, spent a lovely evening exploring two of San Jose’s dining offerings with a friend! ‪#‎MyKindOfCelebrating
